Liposuction Cosmetic Surgery Toronto

Short incisions are made through the skin to introduce the instrument that will remove fat in the shaded areas. A similar technique may be used to remove localized fat deposits from other areas of the body.

Caption C
A long, hollow tube termed a cannula is inserted. At the tube’s opposite end, suction is applied. We prefer the syringe technique for suction, as the device allows only small amounts of fat to be removed at a time. Large volume areas may be treated with a vacuum machine. These techniques are far more precise than power tools (laser, ultrasound, etc.) that potentially damage tissues without necessarily removing them. These power tools canleave large amounts of dead fat cells and triglyceride to be absorbed over time, and in the end an ugly defect can result.

Liposuction allows for an almost immediate return to daily activities, and exercise programs can resume within two weeks. A compression garment (like a girdle) is recommended for wear to provide comfort and possibly a moulding-effect during the healing process. Results are evident within three weeks (sometimes sooner, depending on swelling), and can be dramatic or subtle, depending on how much treatment was necessary.
