Facial rejuvenation has been transformed by the availability of safe injectables. Botox injections are targeted to inhibit muscle contraction, and can be used to alter facial expressions and blunt the unnecessary motion that creates skin wrinkles. Do you need to be a Plastic Surgeon to inject Botox? No. But we believe that familiarity with the individual muscles that create facial expression and their precise location allows a Plastic Surgeon to be more accurate, efficient and selective in your Botox injections.

Restylane is our favourite temporary injectable for increasing volume. It has demonstrated safety and effectiveness over millions of procedures. Different formulations are available, with one designed for use in the skin to blunt creases, one for augmentation of lips, and one for application along the facial skeleton to create more beautiful facial contours. Cheek or chin augmentation, or an improved nasal profile can be simply accomplished with Restylane injection. Applications and injection techniques continue to evolve, and these materials will continue to complement our surgical facial rejuvenation procedures.

There are many other products available, but the injectables that achieve their effect by stimulating a healing response by the body may also be more likely to also create a red, swollen inflammatory response (granulomata), and thus we are not using these products at present.

Bioalcamid is a permanent soft tissue filler approved for treatment of facial lipoatrophy, and we have been very pleased with the safety and effectiveness of this product for cheek fat replacement in HIV patients.
